Kecia brings cross-country experience to Emond Harnden, having worked for a law firm in BC, and more recently at McInnes Cooper in Halifax. Working with both private and public sector employers, she has appeared before the Nova Scotia Workers’ Compensation Appeals Tribunal, Labour Relations Board and Labour Standards Tribunal. Kecia received her law degree from Dalhousie University where she received the prestigious 2000 Muriel Duckworth Award, an annual award given to a woman or women in the graduating class who, by raising awareness of women's issues and feminism in the legal community, best exemplifies the qualities of Muriel Duckworth. She graduated from Simon Fraser University with a BA and honours standing in 1995. Kecia is active in the legal profession as a member of the National Association of Women and Law’s National Steering Committee. She is also a member of the working groups on pay equity, provocation, women in conflict with the law, membership and the Canadian Human Rights Act. In addition, Kecia has developed and conducted workshops for clients on human rights, workplace safety, and labour relations.
